As you may recall hexagonal tiles are key in developing and playing my game. Therefore, I have aspired to create them from scratch. This started out as a self inflicted map design challenge that has ended up throwing me into the rushing rapids of developing a game.
I began by scrawling out some basic designs on mat board that I had sloppily cut out in the rough shape of a hex.
However, these tiles did not please me so I began working on using computer software to draw up some better map tiles. Special thanks to everyone at The Cartographers’ Guild. The inspirational maps and other information I found at that site really helped get me pointed in the right direction. After many hours of work I finally came up with the designs below.
I think that these turned out fairly good considering my low level of graphic design knowledge. These are just samples. For my finished game I would like each woodland, mountainous, and open terrain hex to be unique, so that there is no repetition of tiles across the map.
Please feel free to give me your thoughts.
